Can I stake POL tokens on the Polygon network?

POL token staking is natively performed on the Ethereum network, not on the Polygon network. While Polygon uses POL as gas for transactions on its Proof-of-Stake (PoS) network, this is separate from the staking mechanism, which remains on Ethereum.

Staking POL tokens

To stake POL tokens:

  1. Ensure you have POL tokens on the Ethereum network in your wallet.

  2. Navigate to the staking interface in the application.

  3. Select POL from the list of available tokens for staking.

  4. Enter the amount of POL you wish to stake.

  5. Confirm the transaction and pay the associated Ethereum gas fees.

Important notes

  • POL tokens on the Polygon network cannot be directly staked. They must first be bridged back to the Ethereum network.

  • Ensure you have sufficient ETH in your wallet to cover gas fees for the staking transaction.

  • The staking interface will display estimated rewards (daily, monthly, and yearly) based on current rates.

  • If you see a message like "Insufficient funds to stake X POL", double-check your POL balance on the Ethereum network.

Remember, while POL is used for gas fees on the Polygon network, its staking functionality is tied to the Ethereum network. Always ensure you're interacting with the correct network when managing your POL tokens.
